  CHAPTER 10

  I stood looking at the door that Logan slammed in my face. I did not expect this reaction from her and it left me stunned for a while so I was not immediately able to move. Had she forgotten about me? I waited all day at the airport a little over a year ago and she never came because she chose to stay with her family. I was disappointed but I could not be angry with her; she did what she had to do. But I know Logan loves me. I could see it beyond the pain and grief in her eyes. She had lost her wife and the mother of her children so I expected anything but I was mostly hoping for her to come into my arms so I could just hold her.

  I looked at the paper in my hands that I received two days ago. I read it again to make sure that what I had read a hundred times before, still said the same thing.

  Mom, I am trusting you to carry out this one wish I have. I ask this of you because I know you are the only person I can trust to see this through. If something should happen to me, I do not want Logan to be alone. Please find Alison Walden. She is an Architect in New York. This is her number. If you run into any problems in finding her, ask Erika for help. This is very important to me, Mom. Find Alison and everything else will be OK. Thank you. I love you. Sydney.

  I turned away from the closed door and walked toward my rental car.

  Logan is the love of my life and I don’t care how many times she slams the door in my face, she is not walking away this time. She no longer has a reason to. Love like what we shared just don’t vanish. It was truly sad what it had to take to bring us back together, but I am full of love, ready to bestow upon her and her children, slowly but steadily my love will help them heal.

  I smiled and drove away from Logan’s house, knowing I will be back tomorrow…
